The Zaido Foundation has two missions:

  1. To help prevent Sudden Unexplained Death in Childhood from affecting any other family by supporting research, awareness, and advocacy.

  2. To bring music education to toddlers and their families, who otherwise would be unable to have access to local enrichment programs.

Our son and grandson, Zaid Sharif Nesheiwat, passed away in his sleep, suddenly and unexpectedly, on May 5, 2016 at the age of 28 months. We don’t know how or why he died; his cause of death has been characterized as SUDC (Sudden Unexplained Death in Childhood).

The loss of Zaid, who was a healthy, thriving, smart little boy, is overwhelming and beyond our family’s ability to comprehend. We miss his laughter, voice, unique little language, and tight hugs. We miss his special routines, like Tuesdays with Mimi (his grandmother), Friday night popcorn, and Sunday morning pancakes.  We miss watching him grow and learn so much each day.  We mourn for the life he will no longer live, and the life we thought we would have as a family.

We created The Zaido Foundation to honor Zaid’s memory, his love of music, and to help prevent SUDC from happening in any other family. Please join us in our fight against SUDC, and make a difference in the life of a child.
